Can I use boat paint to paint a fiberglass bathtub?

Does it work? Any safety issues? Any suggestions?

  2. There would sure be safety issues if you used bottom paint! Just kidding, if you used a topside paint like Interlux Brightside I think it would hold up. It’s just that the surface prep would be a lot of work.

  3. I would say there is a 96% chance of it not working.
Although a fiberglass tub is mostly fiberglass (which would handle your boat paint very well), the outside layer is generally made of acrylic. That will NOT hold your paint.
